Claire’s journey with Trusted Law.

by Dec 14, 2020News

I started working for Trusted Law back in September 2019 and it has certainly been an eventful year. As we are coming to the end of 2020, I thought now would be a good time to reflect on the previous year and share my journey.

Although I studied law at university, I took a different career path and only decided to return to it more recently. I met Natalie back in 2014, when my husband and I first wrote our Wills in order to appoint Guardians for our new baby. I was initially a bit daunted by the whole process, but Natalie’s amazing customer service made it a simple and even enjoyable experience. We met again in 2017, when we updated our Wills to include our second child.

When I saw Natalie advertising for a Will Writing Consultant to work for Trusted Law, alongside her, it was an easy decision for me to make. I went for the opportunity and haven’t looked back since. I completed all of my relevant training and became a member of the Society for Will Writers.

This has really been a year of two halves; the first 6 months saw me going out and meeting clients in their houses, enjoying a cup of tea and even meeting family members. In March 2020, we saw the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the first lockdown came into place. This dramatically changed how Trusted Law worked, and I found myself completing appointments via Zoom and over the telephone. Although it was strange not getting to meet people, I feel pleased that I have been able to offer a continuous service throughout these uncertain times. We offered free Wills for emergency services workers at the time and I completed a large number of these, including Wills for nurses, police officers, firefighters and carers.

The pandemic has been challenging for all of us, for different reasons. For me, it has been a bit of a balancing act; I have two jobs and two children, so trying to manage all of those has been difficult at times. Thankfully, everyone has been very understanding, and I have even completed a Will with a wriggly toddler sat on my lap!

“I have even completed a Will with a wriggly toddler sat on my lap!”

I have worked with so many clients since September and can honestly say that I have thoroughly enjoyed every single appointment. I love getting to meet so many different types of people, finding out what it is that they want, and then being able to offer a service to meet their needs. I like to think that I can make the experience as straightforward and pleasant as it was for my family and me, enabling people to tick ‘make a Will’ off their ‘To Do List’.

I am still learning, and enjoy completing my regular CPD, ensuring that my knowledge is always kept up to date. In addition to this, I plan to expand my knowledge further by returning to study Law.

I genuinely love getting to meet so many new people and hope that it won’t be long until I can head out and about again to see clients in their homes. In the meantime, I am still very much working, and look forward to meeting new clients remotely.
